When I was a teenager, my beloved Croatian grandmother told me her abortion story. Back alley. During the Great Depression. “Green, like grass,” she said of the infection that followed. “I’m telling you this so that history will not repeat for you,” she said. In that way, her abortion experience was a gift to me. Thank you for writing your experience, Glenna. By the way, in Croatian, the word “majka” is pronounced “micah” and it translates to English as the word “mother.”
