Earbuds: distraction minimizers…or maximizers?

Publishing…there is a big tapeworm in the room. Maybe it’s an elephant with a tapeworm, but it is in the room. The question is about why anyone would want to “participate” (read work, write, agent, edit, publish) in this industry.
