Muskcle
…and the smell of someone’s molecular etymology
Strong this odor
now everywhere —
it permeates
all nations’ air.
Is this a test
of testicle?
Masculine threat
majestical.
Wounded dear Musk
and his billions
do not support
we civilians.
Since my free speech
is still intact
this little poem
distills that fact.
NOTE: If you are curious about the origin of the word “musk,” please travel to www.etymonline.com/word/musk#etymonline_v_19301. The molecule described as musk in the illustration (and yes, the phrase “No, oh no” is indeed part of that structure!) is derived from the scent gland in the testicle of the musk-deer, and is considered to be medicinal. Healers in the Chinese culture discovered that it could cure toxicities in the human body.
