…in June, Mother Goose, Frederick Douglass, “Into the Woods,” and all that runs away.

Photo of a small ceramic dish currently on my kitchen table.

The goose who was a mother
also made up rhymes for kids.
Here’s her verse to recite when
Americans hit the skids:

“Hey, diddle, diddle,
the cat and the fiddle,
the cow jumped over the moon;
the little dog laughed
to see such sport,
and the dish ran away with the spoon.”

I’m a mother who feels goosed
by leaders of corruption—
and a woman horrified
by martial law’s disruption:

“Hey, Donald, Donald,
you and Musk modeled,
the shark that jumped the news;
the citizens faced
freedoms disgraced
and the flag ran away hearing boos.”

NOTE: June’s full moon is due to shine on the 11th. No Kings Day protests are due to shine on the 14th. (No Kings Day is fine…except for the Martin Luther ones.) Now, it’s time to music by going “Into the Woods” with the talented Marsh Family:
