Viridian.

Crushed violets
heal the static.
Undramatic.
Aromatic.

Ceremony.
Send her roses.
Testimony.
Matrimony.

Go to Asia
on a kite’s tail
tied with freesia —
synesthesia.

This poem has been a study — my writers’ group meets in June and the prompt was to use or imply the meanings of the words “test,” “synesthesia,” and “viridian.” As I worked to create four versions of this poem, I ended up drawing a pineapple, and then I did some self-study in algebra.
