Noon’s shadowed base / it stands salute / for the soldiers’ / lives resolute.

Two.

Scars and damage / Saguaro’s skin / salt and gravel / warriors’ kin.

Three.

Symbiotic. / Memorial. / Human nature. / Senses surreal.

Four.

Ribs for structure / cage in dermis / cemetery / desert furnace.

NOTE: These photos were taken at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on April 30, 2019. May all who rest in this desert tomb realize that there’s much more room where the spirit goes…after the body. When Memorial Day comes around again soon, let the cacti remember for all those who forget….
