The rosary is a tool used for prayer. The prayers said as the beads are counted by fingers were written years ago and carry the weight of all the spirits of people who’ve memorized them.

In 2020, it is time to revisit the words, breathe new air into them, swirl them around in brain buckets and heart hampers, let them dance and make friends, change focus, create new landscapes.

Forgive me, forgive my ideas of religion…know that my belief centers on the spark, the asterisk, the miracle and mystery of an idea smaller than the space surrounding an electron that is Source Energy.

While I’ve lost traditional religion, I’ve not rejected it. I’m grateful to have been raised Catholic, to have endured and been honored by some of the sacraments, to have supported “the church,” to have played the holidays, and to have gained an understanding of the power of prayer.

But it is more than all of those things.

Someone once told me that children need to be raised with religion; they must be given ways to practice how to deal with “all that is seen and unseen.” A church and a religion must be part of their education. And then, when all the education and structure and practice gives way…an adult can move forward with faiths and trusts and beliefs that are tailored to their patterns and essences…and…keep expanding.

Bless the lesson.
